NWelcome to the neighborhood!

bespangled:

Janelle’s Subway Reader Bestsellers List
I have been informally conducting this survey the past year or so, so I’m kinda mad the NYT got it published first. The results are about what I’d expect, although I’d love to break it down by train line or borough — I see more religious texts and test prep books, as well as Japanese novels, Chinese, Farsi, and Sanskrit newspapers, and Russian gossip rags on the E in Queens, versus those Malcolm Gladwell books on say, the 1. I’ve seen Eat Pray Love or The Time Traveler’s Wife most often at Times Square while waiting for the Queens-bound R train. The Twilight saga, however, is pervasive — it’s everywhere, and the age and race rage is expansive (although the gender range not as much).

And If you catch me reading over your shoulder, I apologize. I can’t help it.

edit: I changed the link from the interactive survey of texts read to the article, which is so much better.
